Call for participants for 2 day workshop in Otsu, Japan in March 13-14, 2020
“JKPGT – Just Keep Play Great Together! “

The project aims to improve the relationship between Korea and Japan by promoting dialogue between the two countries. The two days workshop with Joseon Gakko (朝鮮学校／조선학교, Korean school in Japan) will take place in Otsu, Japan (March 13-14, 2020).

Participants will create a new Japan-Korea history board game “Our encounter ~How we met in the past, Why do we meet today? and How we will meet in the future~?” , which will remind us of encounters between Japan and Korean peninsula in the past and today and help us think the possible future of the region. The workshop will be held in Japanese. Accommodation in shared rooms and meals will be provided.

EPRIE 2019: Overcoming the challenges posed by social media

From 26 June to 7 July 2019, the Korea Verband organized the exchange program EPRIE 2019 in Japan and South Korea. Under the theme “Overcoming the challenges posed by social media: How to make it work for social change” the participants explored the question how social media can be used for social change. A total of twenty young people between 25 and 38 years old took part in the program, ten of whom came from Europe (Germany, Poland, France, Georgia) and ten from Asia (China, Japan, Korea, India and Australia).

EPRIE Journal 2018: Media in Times of Populism and Post-Truth Politics

The alumni of the EPRIE program published the new EPRIE Journal 2018 on ‘Media in Times of Populism and Post-Truth Politics’.

Participants of EPRIE 2018 have contributed thought-provoking articles to elaborate on the relationship between journalism, social media, populism and post-truth politics. The EPRIE Journal also covers previous of topics EPRIE as well as the activities and research of the alumni.

Trust Me!dia Workshop

 “Trust Me!dia” engages with current challenges of building and maintaining trust within the global media landscape. The project encompassing workshops and podcasts was initiated in connection with the 2018 EPRIE (Exchange Program for Regional Integration in East Asia and Europe) and is funded by the EPRIE Project Fund with support of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

You are cordially invited to join the workshop on current challenges of the global media landscape organized by EPRIE Alumni. On April 13th (Sat) we will discuss social media and its increasing impact on journalistic and political dynamics as well as the proliferation of populism and fake news within our public discourse at the International Alumni Center in Berlin.

Apply now for EPRIE 2019!

EPRIE aims to share and exchange perspectives and experiences between East Asia and Europe. In 2018, we examined the challenges posed to the media sector by populism and post-truth politics. This year, together with media practitioners, actors from civil society, scholars and politicians, we will focus on social media as a tool for social change.

The program will take place in East Asia (Japan and South Korea) from June 26 to July 7, 2019. Application deadline will be on Sunday, March 24, 2019. For further information, please have a look at the program for EPRIE 2019:

EPRIE 2018: Media in times of populism and post-truth politics

From June 27 to July 8 Korea Verband has organized the exchange program EPRIE 2018 “Media in times of populism and post-truth politics – challenges and opportunities” in Krzyżowa / Wroclaw (Poland), Potsdam / Berlin (Germany) and Brussels (Belgium). Twenty young people aged between 25 and 35 years participated in the program, half of them from Europe (Germany, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Armenia, Macedonia, and Romania) and half from Asia (China, Japan, Korea, and Pakistan). The group was also balanced in terms of proportions between academics and practitioners and gender.
